Recipe: Overnight Oats
If you peek into a friend or stranger’s pantry, there’s a strong chance you’ll find a canister of rolled oats. The humble grains have been eaten as a porridge (oatmeal) for thousands of years, and they continue to grow in popularity due to their wealth of health benefits. Oats are naturally gluten free and high in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and a unique group of antioxidants called avenanthramides, which may help to lower blood pressure and prevent heart disease. By weight, raw oats are 66% carbohydrates, 17% protein, 7% fat, and 11% fiber—providing a balanced mix of quick- and slow-burning energy.
We begin our days early at HandCut Foods and love to have pre-made breakfasts on hand for quick boosts of nutrition. Overnight oats are the perfect solution: they’re filling, healthful, and easy to customize with your favorite mix-ins and flavorings. Put together a batch tonight and enjoy a delicious breakfast tomorrow morning.
